Pinnacles Youth Park

Pinnacles Youth Park is located at 850 E Pinnacles Rd, Sturgeon, Boone County, Missouri. It is not too far north of Highway 70 above Columbia, Missouri, off of Highway 63.

It is privately owned, but the public is allowed to visit. We did not experience the entire place as we did not hike, but there are plenty of other videos on YouTube where you can see crazy folks climbing into danger places on top of the pinnacles.

We were able to take a short walk from the parking lot and walk down to the creek and along the Silver Fork creek without much difficulty, so anyone could take a quick trip here to enjoy the geologic wonders of the park.

The trail takes you around the back side of the pinnacles and it is do-able as I see young children doing it on YouTube videos, and you get to see some amazing views, but then again it invites one to go just that much further into some dangerously high drop-off locations. In fact, I know someone who fell and almost died at this location, and there have been others who have done the same. So if you go, be smart. It is maintained by the Boone County Pinnacles Youth Foundation using only donations and volunteer labor.

I feel as if this heart shaped hole in a pinnacle is the highlight of the park, although I think it is one to the right that is the tallest. The definition of a pinnacle is "a high, pointed piece of rock."

I think the above photo shows the tallest pinnacle.

We did cross the Silver Fork which was low and walk along it. Be careful and watch where you step as there was a baby snake in the water, as can be seen in the above video. there were children playing in the water as well.
