Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and Pioneer Village

Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and Pioneer Village is in Mansfield, Wright County, Missouri, and we visited on Friday, June 23, 2023.

I had become aware of Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds through social media when I realized just how many folks all over the country purchased their seeds from their website. Then I realized they were right here in Missouri not all that far from me and had a little village for us to visit. I was glad to finally get to visit and even through the extremely hot temperatures, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would like to go back again some day to spend more time studying their garden plots to see what other plants I might want to grow in my yard. Their website address is "rareseeds" because they specialize in those rare seeds that are passed down from generation to generation and are at least 50 years old. To me that means that these seeds that are sold at Baker Creek are gathered off of plants they are growing right on their premises from year to year. That is a LOT of work to first grow the seeds and then harvest them for packaging and reselling.

Here you can see a few of the beds of plants that you can enjoy in front of the seed store. Each plant is labeled, so after you discover something new, walk into the store to buy the seeds!

I saw a video of this home on YouTube with an interview of the owners. It is private property and the one place you cannot traverse.

This is walking to the door of the store.

This is just a small section of the store inside. I wandered around for a long time! As you can see in the video above, there are more seeds than I imagined ever were available in this store, plus a whole lot more.

Next to the store we began our journey around the village.

The even have animals of a wide variety to visit, which is perfect for children and adults young at heart.

I loved the valley that Bakers Creek is located upon.

This little patch of all trees were so inviting.

In many of the buildings there were other shops, which was a delight and a surprise when we opened the doors because you could not tell from the outside. I do not usually like to shop when I vacation, but I really did enjoy these shops.

There is a working mill on the side of this building. You can see it in the above video.

This is looking through the window to the restaurant. It is only open during certain hours.

This is the home where they live and is private.

Behind the village is this scene with a lot of greenhouses in the distance. I walked out there.

This is the entrance to the village from the back side where I walked out.
