Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site
We visited Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site on June 24, 2023. Hubby was anxious to visit here since we toured Nathan's home in Missouri, Daniel Boone Home Historic Site. Nathan had a large home in St. Charles County, Missouri, where his father also lived at the end of his life, but he lost it and moved.
This is one of the trails. I would have liked to explore it.
This is a map of the site and it seems more complicated than in reality. This talks about the cemetery and you can see where they are buried (as in the above video).
This is the main walking path. I thought it made a loop, but it does not. The loop is near the end of this trail, near the home, and goes through the prairie. If we had not had so much on our itinerary, we might have hiked the loop, but instead we returned the same way we came.
It's a beautiful walk and I can image Nathan Boone and his wife Olive living here.
I loved the fruit tree grove!
During Covid, the Missouri State Parks got creative and found a way to make the park open without walking with an interpreter. There are QR codes everywhere and you can scan them to listen to a YouTube video. I found they did not go in order. Here are the links if you want to take a listen. It is a great way to visit the park virtually.

Stop 11 - African American Cemetery
I love imagining to sit on the front porch at the view they would have sat for hours and watched.
We you first come down the trail, you can take a left and go to the African American Cemetery.
