St. Mary's of the Barrens Catholic Church

My ancestors attended this church. I mostly think of my ancestor John Geile when I think of this church. It is such a marvelous church that one must visit it to fully grasp the awe of it. St. Mary's of the Barrens Catholic Church is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Take a self-guided tour. There is much to see on the campus. I have visited the seminary building which houses some local historic records for the historical society. A walk through the paved trail is so peaceful. Along the trail is the Bishop Rosati's log cabin and the Grotto of our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Of course, there is also the cemetery where my ancestors are buried.

I love to visit this Church on the Country Christmas Church Tour. The church is number 4 on the above video.

The video above and photos below were taken in December 2020.

In the summer months there is a beautiful field of zinnias. I was thankful for the person or people who planted it for us to enjoy.

The above video and below photos were taken July 26, 2020.
