Sidalcea malviflora | Prairie Mallow Sidalce, Dwarf Checkerbloom

Sidalcea malviflora | Prairie Mallow Sidalce, Dwarf Checkerbloom

Malvaceae (Mallow Family) Pronounced Mal-vay-cee-eye

Pronounced Sih-dal-see-uh   Mal-veh-flor-uh

The flowers look like miniature hollyhocks of the mallow kind to me, which I love the idea of in that it seems a perfect cottage garden flower.

The plant prefers cool summers and does not like the hot weather here in Missouri, so I am not sure why I ever had it in my garden.

I found a photo of this flower from 2001 in my garden and I think I may like to try to get it again, so I am preserving it on this website page.
