Lakeview Park, Mexico MO Conservation Area

We were on our way to Mark Twain Lake and since I have a goal to visit something in every county of Missouri, and we were traveling through Audrain County, we decided to stop at two parks in Mexico, Missouri. Both parks are run in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Conservation. It was a long drive for us and the pause to stop and walk a bit was welcomed. We had a good laugh that we visited Mexico, France (Paris, MO), and Florida (Florida MO) all in one weekend.

This is a fisherman's lake. The overview in the video shows it is fairly large.

I took a short walk down this path and found myself on an island! The relive app footage in the video above shows it best how I was on an island. It was a nice hike.

Here I am walking up the hill on the island. When at the top, I can see the lake 360 degrees.

Lakeview Park

We hiked all the way around this lake and really enjoyed it. It was a little over a mile. This is the spillway aka waterfall.

Hubby said as he walked off, "If I ever say I am going to walk up a wall for no reason, smack me upside the head." At the top he could see the lake view.

I just followed the paved trail and it took me to the top of the hill.

I liked the hike because there was a variety of types of places we walked through. Some were in the open with lake views and others were through wooded areas.

Once we reached the other side of the lake, there were geese everywhere. There was also a campsite which I captured in the above video, but did not get a photo of it. When we drove through it later to go back to the bathroom, there was a sign that said 'no tent campers.' I had never seen that before and felt cheated! We only tent camp and would not have harmed anything. So why are tent campers not wanted here?
